Entry Requirement


B.Sc degree with 50% mark in all the the three optional subjects in aggregate and should have studied Chemistry/ Biochemistry compulsorily along with atleast one of the following optional subjects. a. Microbiology b. Botany c. Biotechnology d. Applied Botany e. Zoology f. Applied Zoology g. Industrial Microbiology h. Environmental Science i. Genetics j. Applied Genetics k. Sericulture l. Home Science m. Life Science n. Biological Science o. Agricultural Science p. Biochemistry q. Dairy Sciences r. Horticulture s. Forestry and t. Fisheries.

Assessment

The students are assessed based on their practical laboratory work and term end examinations.

Introduction

Biotechnology is the application of scientific and engineering principles to the processing of materials by biological agents to develop products and processes.Biotechnology applies engineering and other principles to add to the abilities of organisms and thereby developing processes useful to mankind’s progress. Course Information

This postgraduate programs lays emphasis on practical llaboratory training with industrial visits forming a part of the course supplementing the regular curriculum. Some of the subjects covered during the course of study include General Microbiology, Bio-molecules, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Bio-informatics and Computer Applications, Animal Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Bio-ethics, Genetic Engineering and Environmental Biotechnology.
