GCC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: THE EASTERN CHAPTER: PURV
Some days bring forth indelible memories and November 13, 2011 was one such quintessential day that was quite eventful in the history of Garden City College. PURV, the GCC Alumni Association of the Eastern Zone was formed at the curtain-raiser event of the Annual Alumni Meet of the Eastern Zone on Sunday at Floatel, Kolkata.
His Excellency, Dr. Joseph V.G, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Maldives in Bangalore and Chairman, Garden City Group of Institutions graced the occasion with his illuminating presence. On lighting of the ceremonial lamp, he officially released the logo of PURV. The alumni were quite a blend of recent and old batches of students who had graduated from Garden City College. Some students even date back to the formative years of Garden City College and they shared their experiences of life back then; as the ambience encapsulated the essence of nostalgia.
After a sumptuous lunch organized for the alumni, the office bearers of PURV were selected. The pre-eminent feature lay in the fact that it was left to the alumni to voluntarily come forward in order to accept a post in the Alumni Association Committee. Mrs. Anisha Barat accepted the post of the President of the Eastern Alumni Association Committee, while Mr. Pratik Dutta chose to be the Vice president. Of other consequential posts, the Secretary is Faraaz Kharwa, the Joint Secretary is Sohom Mukherjee, the Relationship Officer is Ms. Priyanka Das and the Treasurer is Ms. Fatema Dhariwala. The Honorary members include Mr. Shakya Dutta, Mr. Soumyadeep, Mr. Avishek Jaiswal, Ms. Monjeera Chatterjee, Mr. Soumitra Mukherjee and Mr. Joydeep Basu.
After the selection of the committee, everyone now eagerly awaits the Annual Alumni Meet of the Eastern Zone to be organized henceforth by the office bearers every year. Garden City College boasts of its bright alumni who shall now take charge as the Alumni Association Committee of the Eastern Chapter, PURV.
