MS in Communication

Introduction

The post graduate programme in Communication is designed for those who are planning to have a career in the communication and media industry. The programme is designed to equip the students with knowledge in handling the latest technological advancements in media, with a balanced curriculum that challenges students to confront contemporary issues in media theory, research, policy, planning and management. Here an optimum balance is maintained between theory and practice. Substantial man hours are spent on laying a strong foundation of different kinds of media, like-print, electronic (T V production) and new media along with exposure to advertising, public relations, technical writing, content writing, event management. The students are given hands on experience through our in house monthly magazine (GCC WORLD), daily news paper (GCC ELAN), campus radio, and campus TV.

Course Information

The MS in communication is a 2 year post graduate programme covers subjects like media issues and themes, Advanced Editing Techniques, Principles of Reporting, business Journalism, media laws and ethics, Advanced communication Research Methods, Information Technology for Mass Media, Public Relations and Corporate Communications, environmental communication, developmental communication, Principles and Characteristics of Radio ,media laws and ethics Television Broadcasting Production Techniques, Broadcasting Program Analysis, Political Communication, Advertising, Film Communication , international communication, technical and content writing ,magazine writing and production, film communication , organizational communication etc

Entry Requirement

A bachelors degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate

Assessment

The students are appraised based on their involvement and participation in tutorials, lecture classes and practical studies. They are also assessed by the project work and seminars apart from the examinations conducted by the institution and the University.

Job Prospects

Successful candidates can look forward to joining in News Papers and Television as Journalists, copy editors, news editors ,Advertising Agencies as Copy Writers or Visualizes creative directors , Corporate as Public Relation Officers, Media Production Houses as Animators, and Script Writers, TV channels, radio stations , or other media organizations as technical and content writers, journalist, anchors , radio jockeys etc.
