Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Introduction

Physiotherapy profession deals with physiotherapeutic system of medicine which includes examination, treatment, advice to any person preparatory to or in connection with movement dysfunction, bodily malfunction, physical disorder, disability, pain from trauma and disease, physical and mental conditions using physical agents including exercise, mobilization, manipulation, mechanical and electrotherapy Physiotherapist’s plays very important role in returning the patient to functional independence and restoration of normal life style.
The course is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognized by The Indian Association of Physiotherapists.

Course Information

BPT is a 4½ year degree program inclusive of 6 months compulsory internship. After completion of the study program the graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a Physiotherapist. The program is supported with specialized teaching facilities which include physiotherapy hospital and labs equipped with latest equipment. Some of the subjects covered during the course of study include Human Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology, Biomechanics, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Electro therapy, Exercise therapy, Clinical Orthopaedics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Physiotherapy in Cardiorespiratory, Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy in Neurology and Community based Rehabilitation.

Entry Requirement

Pass in 10+2/ equivalent with 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Biology.

Assessment

The assessment is based on the lab work, practical training sessions, and term examination.

Job Prospects

Physiotherapist's practice in many settings, such as outpatient clinics, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, extended care facilities, homes, education or research centers, schools, hospitals, industrial workplaces or other occupational environments, fitness centers and sports training facilities.
