B.A LLB (Affiliated to Karnataka State Law University)

Introduction
Law has its close connection with social sciences. A law students needs to be aware of the complex and multifaceted problems in the society. The integrated Bachelor of Law programme provides an in-depth study from the historical perspective of development of law, the political factors that affect the policies prepared into law and the relationship between legislations and social problems. This Programme aims at creating a socially responsible citizen upholding the true spirit of justice.

Garden City College of Law (GCCL) is approved by the Bar Council of India and affiliated to Karnataka State Law University B.A LL.B course is a five-year integrated law program under the Karnataka State Law University. Knowledge is imparted thorough the process of Clinical Teaching which will enhance the students with variety of skills which is required for the profession. Students are also encouraged to undertake research activities which add to analytical skill. In addition to the compulsory courses the students are also introduced to various other value added courses to equip them with the latest advancement in the field of law. Our set of courses is not just aimed at producing lawyers, but also grooms our students to be leaders of tomorrow, and make an impact at the policy making level.

At GCCL an Academic Mentorship Program is followed, where every student is mentored by a faculty member. The program ensures that students in their initial years of Law College are personally guided through various academic activities such as writing research papers, mooting, presenting papers, internships and legal aid activities.

Course Information
The BA LLB programme is designed to prepare the students for tomorrows legal citizens as guardian of Justice. The subjects taught are Political Science, Sociology, History, Economics and English as Social Sciences subjects and all the compulsory law subjects with optional and Clinical papers

The Students study in detail Sociology to reveal the role of law as social engineering, History to learn about the main currents of social, political legal and cultural movements in the course of the Indian History, which influenced the Legal System and its institutions. The course of Economics emphasizes on teaching the overall social, political and economic environment influencing the policy decisions. Political Science will help the students to understand the political structure of a State and will enhance the student’s knowledge and the role of the legislations in a political system. In addition to the Law subjects students are also taught the fundamentals in legal research to build up the research element which is lacking in the legal fraternity.

45 % aggregate in 10+2 / equivalent in any discipline

Job Prospects
They can find employment in various courts of law, in government service both Central and State government, as teachers, as legal advisors in various companies, business houses, organizations etc. They also serve or do private practice as Magistrate and Sub-Magistrate,Public Defenders, Public Prosecutor, Attorney General, Advocate General, District Attorney, Notary, Oath Commissioner, Defense Service, Legal Advisors, Advocate, Solicitor, Teacher, Writer, Company Secretary Etc.
