Media, needless to say is the pillar of the society and journalists are rightly called the watchdog of the society. Society as a whole needs competent, well-trained journalists who can share information effectively and impartially. It is no wonder then a career in Journalism and Media is one of the most sought after careers in today’s time.

The BA course (Journalism, Psychology and English) is designed to meet the futuristic scene in media. This program is prepared to help the students for a career in a wide range of communication fields. Students develop many skills needed to work in communications, such as writing, information-gathering, reporting, video production, online journalism, and media literacy. This program takes the students through an overview of Journalism to the concept of freedom of the press, function and models of communication in the first year to introduction to jurisprudence, torts, rights, duties and constitutional laws in the second year. In the third year, students learn journalistic skills such as reporting a speech, presenting radio news, interviewing and preparing a lay out on screen along with editing and designing. The students undergoing this program are exposed to real life situations while gaining valuable experience during their internship in various newspapers and publications. Besides, Garden City College is the only college in Bangalore and most likely in India which brings out a weekly newsletter, GCC Elan to provide students a platform not only to hone their reporting and writing skills but also to prepare them for the professional world where meeting deadlines is a norm. The monthly magazine, GCC World and Campus Television are other two unique and acclaimed projects by GCC to help media students gain overall exposure in the field of media and make them industry-ready.

This 3 year graduate program prepares students to become complete media professionals; the emphasis is on practical training with internships in various media organizations throughout the study programme.
