Cardinal Toppo lauds Garden City College
“India as a country continues to be the cynosure of all eyes the world over for its remarkable culture that is the mainstay of its cultural and inter-faith harmony,” said a visibly happy, His Eminence, Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo on his visit to the city. “The benefits of this heritage should not be lost on the youth.” His Eminence was addressing the students and faculty of Garden City College after inaugurating the multi -complex block housing 29 classrooms, 5 laboratories, Fashion and Apparel Studio, Resource Centre, Internet café and staff chambers. Recalling his visit to Istanbul, Turkey, His Eminence said he was impressed by the initiative of journalists and eminent personalities who are keen to embrace change in their society. “The fact that a country like Turkey which is predominantly Muslim is opening out to other religions is something to be happy about. Every one there is talking about India’s secular credentials. That we have to safeguard.”

Further, he reiterated the importance of a college like Garden City College in inculcating the same values and beliefs in the youngsters. On this auspicious occasion, His Eminence was accompanied by His Grace the Archbishop of Karnataka, Dr. Bernard Moras. Lauding the efforts of the Chairman, Dr. Joseph V.G, he said his farsighted vision has enabled many students to come up in life. “We should not forget the challenge of providing education to the poor children, I am happy he has been doing this with remarkable regularity.” In his address, the Chairman, Dr. Joseph V.G, commended the efforts of the people involved in the construction of the building that was done in a record period of seven months. “I am pleased that there was no contractor engaged in building our new “Saraswati Mandir,” he noted. “This has been in house efforts from scratch to finish and you students should make the best out of it”. GCC boasts of an enviable record in imparting quality education. The new building is another laurel to its name.
